I actually like the idea of comparing DC to NYC – not in the sense of measuring up, but perhaps looking at how public spaces in DC function differently than in NYC? Times Square symbolizes something very different than . . . there’s nothing that really compares to Times Square in DC. Why is that??

Funny, because the DC metro seems so straightforward and easy to navigate to me, as opposed to NYC’s tortured subway maps. It might be useful to keep up those comparisons of DC versus NYC? How much does what we’re used to affect our experiences of something new? Is it harder to get a sense of the layout of DC as opposed to NYC? Just some thoughts. . .
